J. Robert "Rob" Brown, Jr.
Interim CEO/Executive Director, International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC)
Interim CEO/Executive Director of the International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC). Brown has been a member of the IAFC since 1987 and the Metropolitan Fire Chiefs Association since 2013. Brown previously served as president of the IAFC Missouri Valley Division; treasurer and director at large of the IAFC EMS Section; president of the Colorado State Fire Chiefs; and chair of the Northern Virginia Fire Chiefs. Brown joined the IAFC staff in 2015 after 35 years in the fire service as a metropolitan fire chief, leaving the IAFC for two years to serve the Commonwealth of Virginia and returning to the IAFC staff in 2018. Immediately prior to his retirement, Chief Brown served as chief of the Fresno City (CA) Fire Department. He has a bachelor’s degree in public administration from the University of Missouri and is a master’s degree candidate in intelligence and national security at the Daniel Morgan Graduate School of National Security in Washington, D.C. Brown is a graduate of the National Fire Academy Executive Fire Officer Program.
